Why A Relief Sale?

Why Hold a Relief Sale?

$5,000,000 in U.S. funds were raised at relief sales across the United States and Canada in 2004, with 88% sent to the field. Many churches join together to set up food booths, accumulate items for auction, provide children’s activities, and organize other kinds of booths to raise funds for MCC. Having the community atmosphere of a festival, a relief sale invites the general public to “give to Jesus” since all proceeds from the sale go directly to MCC.

In addition to many on-going projects and workers in the field, a current project of MCC is the allocation of $10,000,000 in response to the Asian earthquake and subsequent tsunami. MCC is even now involved in a drive to collect 22,000 relief kits for the Aceh province, Indonesia where the deadly wave claimed an estimated 100,000 lives and made 500,000 people homeless.
